What does becoming a Friend of Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens mean?
Have you ever experienced that special feeling of being part of a community? As a Friend of the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens, I’m sure you’ll feel that special feeling. That feeling of community is essential to our goal. No matter our role, we’re all on the same mission together: to maintain, use, and share the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens, with our local community.
The total area of the Garden is around five acres, incorporating over 200 trees, as well as gorgeously maintained flower beds, a pond, a play area, foot paths and a large grass area, to picnic, relax, or play.
Sydney Courtauld donated land from his garden as a gift to the town’s people in 1888. Seeing the thundering horse drawn traffic on the Causeway, he determined to make an area where people, particularly children, could walk more safely. What we see today is his legacy to the people of Braintree and Bocking. How apt that 135 years later, the Gardens still provide an oasis of tranquillity away from the traffic thundering through the town.
It’s only through the ongoing generosity of the community that keeps Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens alive and vibrant. Your recurring gift will support the more than 20,000 visits, individuals and groups that enjoy their time in the Garden, day after day, month after month, year after year, for 135 years and counting.
Whether you use Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens to enjoy the tranquillity, immerse yourself in nature, or ignite that spark of curiosity in your children, know your generosity and regular support will make you an integral part of our shared mission.
Experience that special feeling of being part of a community and become “Friend of Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens” and be part of something special in our local community.
