Cedar, Deodar
The Deodar Cedar, is a fine textured evergreen conifer, that can grow to a height of 50m, and may live for 1,000 years.
These two Deodars were probably planted well before the Gardens opened in 1888.

The leaves are re needle-like, mostly 2.5 – 5.0 cm long, borne on singly long shoots, and in dense clusters or 20 – 30.

The Deodar native of the Himalayas, where it can be found at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 m. They typically live in temperate forests, but can span a range of biomes.
It was introduced into England in 1831.
